Material Needed:

1. Trace and cut 2 of the cat pattern piece.

On the front piece, add in patches and details as you like. I use a simple overstitch to add on a black and brown patch to make a calico.
2. Using an erasable pen, mark out the face on the front piece. Backstitch with black thread to outline the face.

3. Sew the brooch to the back piece.

I like to add 2 stitches on the top and 2 below. Placing the brooch about 1/3 way from the top ensures that the piece will not flop over when you are wearing it.
4. Place both pieces wrong side together and sew around using a blanket stitch. You can choose to use a single color thread or to change it according to the patches and details. In this case, I used white, brown and black threads.

Around the ears, placing 4 stitches and having a stitch right at the corner angle would make the stitches stay closer and neater.

5. Wash off the pen ink and you are done!
Optional:
For the cream dollop, take your 3cm x 3cm square and trace the cream pattern on.
1. Using peach thread, sew through the tip of each point (marked in red on pattern) and pull.

This should cause the top of each "blade" to join up and form a peak - just like a dollop of whip cream!

2. Knot closely and tightly, bring ends of thread into the middle to hide before cutting off.

3. Use an overstitch to add this onto your main piece.
Variations you can try!
