Have you ever had a project where you held off for eons cause you just had no practical uses for them?
For me these were finger puppets! They are cute, simple to sew and can be modified to all sorts of characters easily. Perfect for a 15 minutes project. However, I did not have any young kids in my life who would enjoy them.
Now that my friends are starting to have kids, I finally have a reason to make these obsessively!
I made a farm animal set, some fairy tale sets and some occupation sets.

Materials:
- Felt
- Sewing needle and thread
- Pattern piece
- Erasable pen
I started by making a body shape that I would use as the base for most designs for consistency. The ears, hair and additional pieces would then make the animal or character. You can try the same technique to adapt the design for your stories!
Pig Finger Puppet
1. Cut the required pieces from template. The height of the body piece should be around 8cm.
2. Attach the nose using an overcast stitch.
3. Using thicker black embroidery thread, add two lines down the nose for nostrils.
4. Add two french knots using the same embroidery thread for the eyes.
5. Sandwich the ear pieces between the two body pieces.
6. Blanket stitch around leaving the bottom open.
Girl Finger Puppet
1. Cut the required pieces from template. The combined height of the face and body pieces should be around 8cm.
Front piece
2. Using an overcast stitch, attach the face to the body piece.
3. French knot the eyes and use a backstitch for the smile.
4. Place the hair front piece on the face piece. Sew with an overcast stitch where the blue lines are.
Back piece
5. Position the second body piece on the hair back piece, using the dotted line as a guide.
6. Overcast stitch the body piece to the hair back piece.
7. Place both front and back pieces wrong side together and sew using a blanket stitch. Leave the bottom open.
