Polymer clay is a great medium for miniature foods and now that I've discovered how well it works with UV resin, nothing can stop me! Except dust. Yes, definitely dust.
This weekend I made some dangos from polymer clay. Dango (団子) is a Japanese dumpling made from rice flour and I absolutely love eating them when I visit Japan.

Materials:
- Polymer clay (White, Light pink, Green)
- Liquid Sculpey (Optional)
- UV Resin
- Acrylic paint (Ochre)
- Tooth picks
- Scissors
- Sandpaper
- Hooks (If you are making keychains/charms)
To get the right shade of green, I mixed white and green in a 1:1 ratio, then added a pinch of dark blue and brown to make it more muted.
The light pink was white and red in a 5:1 ratio.
Cut the tooth picks into half and lightly sanded the ends smooth.

Roll them into balls of similar sizes.

To connect the dangos together and also the stick, I add a dot of liquid Sculpey between them. Not necessary but it makes me feel safer.

This is how they look like before baking!

Pop into the oven at ~120 degrees for ~15min.

After they have cooled down, I added brown acrylic paint in rough strokes for the soy sauce dango and let it dry.

To make the soy sauce glaze, I mixed a tiny bit of ochre acrylic paint into my UV resin. Just enough to give it color while retaining the translucent look.

Glazed and into the UV lamp!

Completed! These were supposed to go onto a pair of earring studs but I was unable to find my stash of studs...
